Joel McMurry

Welcome. I am an Applied Scientist at Uber Technologies. I completed my PhD in economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I studied labor and family economics. The content here pertains to my academic work.

As an applied microeconomist, I adopt a variety of methodological approaches, including both structural and design-based econometrics, and I spend much of my days thinking about the mapping between the two. Before graduate school, I worked in litigation consulting at Analysis Group, Inc. in Chicago and then studied math at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I did my undergraduate work in economics and philosophy at the University of Chicago. I currently live in Seattle, WA.
